metals.
FoamTecT
FoamTecT is the answer to the problem of corrosion forming on the internal
surfaces of hollow steel sections such as lamp posts, barrier supports, road
sign legs and any structure which has hollow steel in it's construction.
FoamTecT is formulated from materials tried and tested as corrosion inhibitors. Both contact and vapour phase inhibitors are used to ensure complete treatment of all steel, even where the foam has not penetrated.
FoamTecT is a two part system (Patent Pending) and is supplied in liquid form and on mixing produces a foam which carries the corrosion inhibitor to the face of the steel, blocking the passage of oxygen and water and in so doing effectively inhibiting oxidation of the steel surface.
GelTecT
GelTecT has been developed to provide corrosion protection in situations
of high temperature, up to 400° C and humidity of up to 98%. This is particularly
useful in pipelines where the base of the pipe may be in water. GelTecT
has both aqueous and vapour phase components to provide as high a level of protection
as possible.
GelTecT is supplied in a single pack (Patent pending) specially suited to application by sealant applicator guns and by this method it can be accurately located in the structure to give quick acting properties.
Whilst it's original design was for pipelines, GelTecT can be successfully used in any application that requires a product to work at high temperature and be capable of providing protection to steel even under water.
VAPOUR PHASE CORROSION INHIBITORS
These products, generally shortened to V.P.I.s, V.C.I.s (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors), or sometimes D.C.I.s (Defusing Corrosion Inhibitors) are a new twist on the old idea of using mothballs for protection. They are chemical compounds which very slowly vaporise to produce an atmosphere which protects against atmospheric corrosion of metallic materials. They work by depositing a monomolecular layer on the surface, which arrests or prevents corrosion both electrochemically and by excluding oxygen.
A range of material types are available, tailored to suit the varying needs for corrosion protection. As might be expected most emphasis is on prevention of rusting of ferrous materials but protection can be given to other metals, such as Aluminium, Chromium, Nickel and Nickel alloys, Silver and its alloys, Tin and alloys and Zinc. Some protection can be given to Copper and Copper alloys.
Typical uses for VPIs are:
Many other uses can be readily found, limited only by the imagination of the user.
Best results are achieved by use in a confined space, for example, 1g of VPI 26 will saturate 769 cubic metres of air, thus, protection of contents of packing cases and similar containers can be effected with economical quantities.
The following grades of VPI are produced:-
VPI 30; this is a fast acting grade, produced in pellet form.
VPI 26; a slow release grade, in powder form.
VPI 28; as 26 but including a stabilising ingredient to protect against extremes of pH.
VPI 38; as 28 but using the faster release material.
VPI 58; this a combination of fast and slow release material, in pellet form.
VPI 60; A water-based gel, suitable for injection into cavities.
Other grades and physical forms can
be produced and we are always ready to formulate products to customers' specifications
or special requirements
